Bunny Jumping

Based on Horse Jumping, Rabbit Hopping or "Bunny Jumping" originated in Sweden in the 1970's. It caught on in Norway, Denmark, England and Germany. Competitions are now being held in the United States.

Most rabbit hopping is done on a leash for the safety of the rabbit. Training is begun by getting the rabbit accustomed to a leash. Preferred is a small dog harness that fits over the body. Initially it is put on the rabbit which is then allowed to hop around while wearing it. The next phase involves attaching the leash and allowing the rabbit to drag that around. The final step in training involves picking up the leash and allowing the rabbit to lead the owner around. Once the rabbit is used to the leash, training for the jumps can begin.

"Call Out" a Danish rabbit, is the current world record holder for both the long jump, at 9.8 feet (3 meters), and the high jump, at 3.4 feet (one meter). For more info on Rabbit Hopping/Agility, visit: RabbitAgility.com.
